On Dec 09 2017, School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE) held a networking session with potential student applicants from various polytechnics of Singapore, together with invited guests that consisted of the Directors and Head representing the respective polytechnics’ programmes.
There was a good turnout; with more than 50 students registered for the event, and up to 10 directors and heads present during the event. The event began with a short welcome by emcee Rajiv Balamurugan (CS year 1 Student) followed by an in-depth sharing on SCSE’s UG programme and curriculum by Associate Chair (Academic) – Associate Professor Nicholas Vun. There was also a presentation by EDB representative, Ms. Ariella Yeo on the importance, and the application of Computer Science and Engineering across different career paths. Also present at the session were Associate Professor Sun Aixin, Assistant Chair (Admissions) and Outreach, and Associate Professor Suresh Sundaram, Outreach Chair.
The session concluded with a panel session, where invited panellists consisted of alumni Mr. Jayden Chen, SCSE students Jeffrey Ong and Deepaprakash Meha representing Double Degree and Computer Science programmes, along with Assoc Prof Vun answering various questions raised by the attendees.
At the end of the session, the attendees were led to view the various projects set up at SCSE foyer showcasing the interesting work done by our students, which include research based, curriculum related and Final Year projects. They were then treated to a scrumptious lunch buffet while the attendees continued to network with the professors and students from SCSE.
